Creator Agreement

1. Agreement Overview

This Creator Agreement ("Agreement") is between you ("Creator") and ProFlix ("Platform"). By uploading content as a creator, you agree to these terms in addition to our Terms of Service.

2. Revenue Sharing Model

75/25 Split

ProFlix operates on a transparent revenue-sharing model:

  • 75% to Creators: Three-quarters of net revenue goes to content creators
  • 25% to Platform: One-quarter covers platform operations, hosting, and development

How It Works

  1. Total Revenue: All active subscriptions × $12/month
  2. Platform Costs: Stripe fees (~3%), Bunny hosting, infrastructure
  3. Net Revenue: Total revenue minus platform costs
  4. Creator Pool: Net revenue × 75%
  5. Your Share: Creator pool × (your watch-time ÷ total watch-time)

Example Calculation

If the platform has 1,000 subscribers:

  • Total revenue: $12,000/month
  • Platform costs: ~$2,000 (Stripe, hosting, etc.)
  • Net revenue: $10,000
  • Creator pool: $7,500 (75%)
  • If your videos get 20% of total watch-time → You earn $1,500/month

3. Watch-Time Calculation

Your earnings are based on actual viewer engagement:

  • Active Viewing Only: Time counted when video is playing and tab is active
  • 10-Second Intervals: Watch-time tracked every 10 seconds
  • Fraud Prevention: Watch-time capped at video duration per user
  • Fair Distribution: Your percentage = your watch-time ÷ all creators' watch-time

What Counts as Watch-Time

  • ✅ Video actively playing
  • ✅ Browser tab is visible
  • ✅ User is a paid subscriber or in trial
  • ❌ Video paused
  • ❌ Tab in background
  • ❌ Repeated viewing beyond video duration

4. Content Ownership

You Own Your Content

You retain full ownership and copyright of all videos you upload to ProFlix. We believe creators should own their work.

License to ProFlix

By uploading content, you grant ProFlix a non-exclusive, worldwide license to:

  • Host and store your videos
  • Stream content to paid subscribers
  • Create thumbnails and previews
  • Display your content in search results and recommendations

You can delete your content at any time, which terminates this license.

Content Requirements

All uploaded content must:

  • Be your original work or you have proper rights/licenses
  • Be educational in nature (photography, videography, creative arts)
  • Not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, or other IP rights
  • Comply with our content policy (no illegal, harmful, or offensive material)

5. Payout Terms

Payment Schedule

  • Monthly Payments: Calculated at the end of each calendar month
  • Processing Time: Payouts distributed within 15 days of month-end
  • Minimum Threshold: $10 minimum to receive payout (balances carry over)

Payment Method

  • Stripe Connect: Direct bank transfer via Stripe
  • Supported Countries: 40+ countries (see Stripe availability)
  • Tax Forms: US creators receive 1099-K if earnings exceed $600/year

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate bank account information
  • Complete required tax forms (W-9 for US, W-8BEN for international)
  • Report earnings to tax authorities as required
  • Keep your payment information up to date

6. Creator Dashboard & Analytics

You have access to real-time analytics:

  • Total Watch-Time: Hours watched across all your videos
  • Estimated Earnings: Current month projection based on watch-time
  • Unique Viewers: Number of different users who watched your content
  • Per-Video Stats: Performance breakdown by individual video
  • Follower Count: Users following your channel

7. Platform Fees & Deductions

Before calculating creator payouts, we deduct actual platform costs:

  • Stripe Fees: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
  • Bunny Stream: Video hosting and CDN bandwidth
  • Infrastructure: Database, servers, email services
  • No Hidden Fees: We only deduct actual, verifiable costs

Platform costs are transparent and calculated monthly. The 25% platform share covers development, support, and growth.

8. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited and may result in account termination:

  • Watch-Time Fraud: Artificially inflating views or watch-time
  • Copyright Infringement: Uploading content you don't own
  • Misleading Metadata: Fake titles, descriptions, or tags
  • Spam Content: Low-quality or repetitive videos
  • Multi-Account Abuse: Creating multiple creator accounts
  • Payment Manipulation: Chargebacks, fraudulent disputes

9. Content Removal & Disputes

Your Right to Remove

You can delete your videos at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Platform Removal Rights

We may remove content that:

  • Violates our terms or content policy
  • Infringes third-party rights (DMCA takedowns)
  • Is reported by users and confirmed as inappropriate

We'll notify you before removal when possible and provide appeal options.

DMCA Process

We comply with DMCA. If you receive a takedown notice:

  1. We'll forward the notice to you
  2. Content is removed until dispute is resolved
  3. You can file a counter-notice if you believe it's fair use
  4. Repeated violations may result in account termination

10. Termination

Your Right to Leave

You can delete your creator account at any time. Outstanding earnings will be paid out in the next cycle if above minimum threshold.

Platform Termination

We may terminate creator accounts for:

  • Repeated violation of terms
  • Fraudulent activity
  • Legal requirements
  • Prolonged inactivity (6+ months with no uploads)

You'll receive 30 days notice unless termination is for fraud or legal reasons.

11. Changes to Agreement

We may update this Creator Agreement with 60 days notice. Continued uploading after changes indicates acceptance. If you disagree with changes, you may:

  • Stop uploading new content
  • Delete your creator account
  • Receive final payout for existing watch-time

13. Acknowledgment

By uploading content to ProFlix, you acknowledge that:

  • You've read and understand this Creator Agreement
  • You agree to the 75/25 revenue split based on watch-time
  • You own or have rights to all uploaded content
  • You're responsible for your own taxes
  • Earnings are not guaranteed and depend on viewership
